Psychosocial support

Beyond dog training, we create a relationship of trust and mutual support. At TOGO, each beneficiary is accompanied by a psychosocial worker to provide personalized support for their project.

Intervention in emergency settings

TOGO offers services for emergency responders in Quebec (paramedics, firefighters, police officers, correctional officers, etc.). For more information on this program, please write to admission@leschienstogo.com.

Individual support

Provide personalized psychosocial support to individuals in need, ensuring a safe space is created where they can express their emotions and concerns. The counselor helps manage stress, anxiety, trauma, and various personal and professional challenges.

Support groups

Facilitate support groups to allow participants to share and support each other. These groups are designed to foster solidarity and understanding among individuals facing similar experiences while providing a safe space.

Monitoring and evaluation

Provide regular monitoring of the people supported, assessing their progress and adjusting interventions according to changes in their needs.

Psychological assistance service

You are eligible for our psychosocial support program, including obtaining a TOGO psychological assistance dog, if you are a veteran, military member or frontline worker.

Physical assistance is very different, and anyone with significant limitations in this area is not eligible for our program at this time.

If you already own a dog of at least 18 months old, the organization may also evaluate it once your application has been accepted.

  • The minimum age for children in the household to adopt a TOGO dog is 6 years old. There are no exceptions to this rule.

  • It is mandatory to obtain a note from a healthcare professional (psychologist, psychiatrist, or doctor) approving your plan to acquire a TOGO dog. A TOGO form will be given to you, and only this form should be completed by the professional.

  • The person must have implemented measures (psychotherapy, group therapy, medication, professional support, etc.) to improve their quality of life and not expect the mere presence of a dog to be enough to overcome all their daily challenges.

  • A diagnosis of a disabling psychological disorder must have been issued. Simply being stressed or depressed is not sufficient to access our services.

If you meet the above criteria and wish to confirm your eligibility for the program, we invite you to write to admission@leschienstogo.com.

The Admissions team receives over 200 questions and requests per week. For this reason, we always initiate communications by email. It may take a few days for us to respond. Check your email inbox after sending for an automated response that may contain additional instructions, depending on your situation.
